Did You Know?

Weymouth Food Pantry is a qualified member agency of the Greater Boston Food Bank. This membership allows us to access food at greatly reduced cost, and to take advantage of free food distributed by the GBFB.

By the numbers:
In 2010, the Weymouth Food Pantry served a total of 5704 families a virtually identical number to the 5711 families we served in 2009. These families represented 15,025 iindividuals versus the 14,908 individuals we served in 2009. Hopefully, this plateauiing of need for our services is an indication that while he economy has not necessarily improved, it has not gotten worse and, more hopefully the beginning of a turnaround

We have seen similar patterns in the demand for our services in past times, and as things got better so did the numbers of individuals and families needing our services.

Our Facility:
Since 2009, we have been renting our space at our long-time location in the former Immaculate Conception school building. We are very grateful that this space was provided to us for the prior 18 years at no cost. While this has increased our operating expenses, the arrangement offered us some unique opportunities. Since we now have exclusive use our space, we have reconfigured it. These changes have made for a more welcoming atmosphere for our clients, and a more efficient environment for our volunteers and staff. These changes were accomplished during the first quarter of 2010.

Volunteer Help:
We have a staff of slightly over 100 regular and dedicated volunteers, each of whom contributes 4 to 15 hours of work each week. Their combined efforts equaled over 12,000 hours last year, the equivalent of more than six full-time employees.

Our Supporters:
Local churches, businesses, community organizations and hundreds of individuals generously donate food, money and volunteer time and effort to keep the Food Pantry running successfully. Donation Suggestions
