Thanks to all of these schools

who contributed food through them
to make the Adopt-A-Month program
such a success for the 2009 - 2010
school year.

Your donations have really helped!

Adopt-A-Month is a program that was started 15 years ago in the Weymouth Public Schools by Elaine DeCosta, a retired Weymouth school teacher. Elaine continues to coordinate the Adopt-A-Month program for the Food Pantry.

Almost every school in Weymouth (both public and private) adopts a month to collect food for the Pantry. A typical donation from a school varies from about 500 pounds to 1500 pounds depending on the individual school enrolment. The program runs monthly from September to April with the exception of the months of November and December during which the Food Pantry typically receives generous organization and individual food donations.

In addition to the Adopt-A-Month program Weymouth High School conducts food drives for the Food Pantry at Halloween and Christmas, and has been very, very generous with its donations.

Both St. Francis and St. Jerome's Schools conduct continual year-round collections for the Food Pantry. Thanks!

If you'd like further information on the Adopt-A-School program, contact Elaine DeCosta at the Weymouth Food Pantry.

The students, teachers and parents of Weymouth schools continue to be very supportive of this program. We are very thankful for their efforts as well as their generous donations.

Seach Volunteers delivered the school's food drive collection on March 29th in the rain
Smiling Seach School volunteers delivered their school's food drive donations (which filled four cars) on a rainy day in March.
Ralph Talbot and Seach Schools both delivered very substantial donations to the Food Pantry during March. Our volunteers were briefly yet pleasantly overwhelmed in their date-checking and sorting of the donations from the respective food drives which were held in March.

Thanks to all the schools and all the
individuals  who made this program
such  a success in the
2008 - 2009 school year
, and who are
making a difference this year!
